Project title
Eco-innovative products and technologies for energy efficiency in construction.
The overall objective of the project is to enhance energy efficiency for consumers, where consumers refer to civil, industrial, and agricultural structures that serve multiple functions, collectively referred to as buildings.
The project will foster collaboration between the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Installations within the 'Gh. Asachi' Technical University of Iași and the business environment in the construction sector. This collaboration aims to provide enterprises with access to extended expertise and the facilities available in the university's laboratories. The ultimate goal is to commercialize research outcomes related to ensuring energy efficiency. These outcomes will be directed towards consumers represented by civil, industrial, and agricultural constructions, designed and executed by construction companies.
For this purpose, the project will establish the necessary infrastructure, ensuring accessibility to modern tools for technical assessment and compliance with national and international technical regulations. This will enable enterprises, particularly SMEs, to benefit from advanced and appropriate technical support. Interested enterprises or groups of enterprises will be able to acquire knowledge, including skills and competencies, that align with strategic development needs. They will also gain modern solutions for creating and implementing new or improved products, processes, and technologies. These innovations are identified by the enterprises as market-demanded.
Specialized support will be provided to enterprises, designed to address the needs identified at an individual or group level regarding eco-innovative products for energy efficiency in the construction sector. This support will be tailored to various stages of development for new activities promoted by these enterprises.
Specific objectives include:
Creating eco-innovative products for energy efficiency in constructions and improving the energy performance of current products used in civil, industrial, and agricultural constructions, to achieve and maintain the following essential requirements throughout the entire lifespan of buildings: mechanical strength and stability, fire safety, hygiene, health, and environmental aspects, safety and accessibility during use, noise protection, energy economy and thermal insulation, as well as the sustainable use of natural resources.
Development and implementation of an integrated system for designing and constructing passive buildings (energy-efficient), tailored to the environmental conditions in Romania and proactive in addressing climate changes. This system aims to minimize energy consumption and reduce both capital and operational costs of buildings or processes within the construction sector.
Optimizing building performance through the use of energy consumption modeling software, as well as refining strategies for monitoring and controlling energy usage in buildings. This optimization is directed at both primary consumers represented by enterprises involved in designing and constructing buildings, and end consumers, whether individuals or entities, who operate the constructed buildings.
Developing an interactive energy management tool for construction and building products, enabling the tracking and assessment of energy and water consumption, as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions' impact on the environment.
Integrating renewable energy sources or high-efficiency sources into the production of building materials and components, as well as in the construction and utilization of buildings.
Establishing, within the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Installations at the 'Gh. Asachi' Technical University of Iași, a European Technical Assessment Body and an Information and Knowledge Transfer Point for eco-innovative products and technologies aimed at energy efficiency in construction. These initiatives will eliminate technical barriers in the production and commercialization of new products implemented by partners - construction companies. The goal is to promote the unhindered movement of these products in the EU market and provide accessibility to national and international technical regulations. This effort will enable enterprises, particularly SMEs, to gather reliable and accurate information regarding the prevailing legislation in the member state where they intend to introduce or market their products.
